Lets Celebrate.

This morning, the Coast to Coast team woke up around 6:15 to get everything packed and ready for today. George's dad, Mr. Renzulli drove our support vehicle today.

We began our ride from PhilaU this morning at 7:45 with the Architecture Dean, Klinkhammer, and Shirley, the book store manager. They rode about 10 miles with the team on a bike trail.

Afterwords, we continued riding as the sun got hotter and hotter. Today's temperature reached 88° and some of the riders got a little toasty. We biked on the same road, Business 30, all day long. Biking on the same road means that there is no getting lost, but it can also get pretty boring and make the day seem twice as long.

Finally, after biking 77 miles, (in what seemed to have been a straight line) we crossed over the bridge into Wrightsville, where we had many friends and family waiting for us on the other side.

Tonight, the Coast to Coast team celebrated our first part of the trip with friends and family. The local news channel came to interview the team and video us biking across the bridge into Wrightsville.

We also celebrated Kayla, Stephen and Mr. Swengel's birthdays tonight. Kayla turning 20 years old, Stephen turning 19 years old and Scott Swengel turning 21 years old. Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday! Y'all make me feel at home here, and I also want to thank y'all for that as well.

After biking our first day in straight heat and sunlight, everyone was drained of energy.. I have literally fallen to sleep 3 times writing this blog tonight. Goodnight world.

  1. Happy birthday son, I know it's just about a week early that you have started celebrating and that it will continue for about 30 days because it always does, but have fun. We are looking forward to seeing you on June 18 in Washington, D.C. at which time you will be receiving your Congressional Gold Medal Award.
We are just a little proud of you. Just a little.
Is there anything that you need for us to bring?
